Specialized Sensors (Q-Sense™)

As an integral part of the IDUS™ system, Quantason has developed a compact, low cost, ultra-broadband, skin-contact acoustic sensor. During an exam the host imager’s ultrasound transducer delivers a proprietary sequence of low intensity stimulating forces to the breast tissues which, in return, respond with specific signatures related to their physical properties/structures. An array of the Q-Sense™ sensors receives the signals generated from within the body by the stimulation system. Microcalcifications are harder and denser than the surrounding tissues and thus, if present, they respond to the incoming force differently, generating contrasted signatures which are received by the sensors at the surface of the skin.
